Hello and welcome! I'm so pleased that you are visiting this site.

I'm Marina Olesen, the owner/ handcrafter of "Diomid" Art Studio of Decorative & Applied Handmade Works. Having this business has been a long held dream of mine. As many creative types, I've always had the inclination to be making something.
It has been a long journey! The new friends I've met along the way have been priceless. The experience has been a challenge at times but ever so rewarding.

I LOVE when someone appreciates an interesting wallhanging I made. Making photo frames for kids or scrapbook albums for just married couples is ever so rewarding! Working with gesso, wood or glass is a LOT of work but great fun.
The variety of arts and crafts genres have always attracted me, however now I would define my works as follows: Wall Hangings, Scrapbooking, Art work with wood, Art work with glass, ceramics, gesso, Bijou making of natural stones/ minerals, various metals and polymer materials.
The spectrum of the applied techniques is multi-faceted and constantly updated. As far the main techniques I would like to highlight: assemblage, appliqué, collage, cardboard, decoupage, craquelure.
Moreover, in each item I can highlight some certain techniques and tools that determine its belonging to a particular style of creation. The main creative styles of my works are shabby chic, heritage, vintage, freestyle, ethnostyle, mixed media.
Definitely, as any creative person / handcrafter I have always had my individual style, which is clearly traced in all my works, though occasionally some changes may inevitably occur in accordance with my taste, preferences, skills improvement and the appearance of the new art materials. But no matter how varied my style is, it will always reflect my personality, outlook and attitude towards the bright, marvellous and inspiring world around me!
Somewhere along the way I changed my mindset from doing my crafts in the spare room to a handcrafter who creates in the studio, and I'm glad to try to fill the shoes. I'm sure I will keep changing as this journey continues, but this site is a happy representation of what "Diomid" Art Studio of Decorative & Applied Handmade Works is today!
